Absztrakt

Az emlékezés és emlékezet újabban kulcsszerepet tölt be a történeti gondolkodásban. Jóval kevesebb figyelmet kelt viszont a felejtés történelemformáló szerepe. Holott ez utóbbi nélkül sem működik a társadalom és a hatalom. A felejtésnek a modern kori magyar történelemben játszott „jótékony” szerepe ad magyarázatot a hatalom sajátos működésére, annak esetenkénti sikeres problémamegoldó képességére. Tanulmányunkban nyomon kísérjük 1848/49-től a felejtés e téren játszott szerepét, ami nélkül nem köttetett volna meg az 1867-es kiegyezés, nem tett volna szert a Horthy kori uralmi elit hathatós legitimációs érvkészletre, nem úgy alakult volna a történelem folyamata 1945 után és lehetetlen lett volna igazolni 1956 után a Kádár rendszert. S ezzel elérkeztünk az Orbán kormányok NER-ként azonosított politikai identitásához, amely határozottan a folytonos és gátlástalan felejtés gyakorlatán nyugszik.

Abstract

Remembrance and memory are gaining a key role today in historical thinking. Considerably less attention is paid to the history forming role of oblivion, although society and power do not function without it. The „beneficial” role of oblivion played in modern age Hungarian history gives an explanation to the specific operation of power, its success in solving the problems on occasions. The study investigates this role of oblivion from the 1848-49 revolution and freedom fight, leading to the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867, the effective legitimation arguments of the Horthy-era elite in power, history would have taken a different turn after 1945, and it would have been impossible to legitimate the Kádár regime after 1956. Arriving at the political identity of the Orbán-governments identified as the “system of national cooperation” (NER), based definitely on the practice of permanent and unscrupulous oblivion.
